Community Cash

Spring Community Cash

Another great evening at CommUnity Cash on the 13th March. The first in CommUnity Corner.

Two pitches , four progress updates on previous investments and we worked up some ideas with the two local councillors, working out which might be best supported by the local no strings cash and which might fit the Brighter Boroughs cash that the Councillors hold for the benefit of the local community. A great working relationship with Cllr Sheila Ramsdale and Cllr Dave Wood. It’s a win win for the community when we work together.

Four teenage lads successfully pitched for £195 to set up a community gardening business. They want to earn a crust for themselves and contribute to supporting good causes in the community like the Playbox campaign. What a pitch they made. They’d considered all aspects and roped a Dad and a Grandad into using their skills and experience as mentors. It will be great to watch these enterprising young men get going. ‘Lads round here get a bad name and we want to change that,’ they said.

Victoria also bagged £100 for more soil at the community garden.

And as usual Ava, took on probably the most important role of counting and revealing the votes.
So much grows at and from these evenings.

The next one will take place on Wednesday 5th June at 6.30 pm at CommUnity Corner. We’ll hear back from the lads and Victoria and hopefully be able to support some new community ideas.
